Antioch University New England's Green MBA Program Recieves Top Rankings Against Competitors

Keene, N.H. (PRWEB) November 28, 2008 — The Green MBA program at Antioch University New England (http://www.antiochne.edu/) ranks in the top five in multiple categories among MBA graduate programs nationwide according to a new publication by Net Impact (http://netimpact.org/index.cfm), an international nonprofit organization. San Francisco-based Net Impact ranked Antioch University New England's MBA in Organizational and Environmental Sustainability (Green MBA) (http://www.antiochne.edu/om/mba/default.cfm?ref=nav) in the top five in seven of thirteen categories in its Business as Unusual: The 2008 Student Guide to Graduate Business Programs.

"The high Net Impact rankings are a ringing endorsement to the students we serve and the future students who choose Antioch University New England's Green MBA program for their education partner," President David Caruso, PhD (http://www.antiochne.edu/directory/employee_detail.cfm?ID=7160332728) said.

Within the Net Impact rankings, Antioch University New England:

•    Regularly topped student rankings from better-known MBA programs such as Yale School of Management, Babson University's F.W. Olin School of Business, The Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy at Tufts University and the Johnson School of Business Management at Cornell University.

•    Received 92 percent of respondent agreement that its students are enthusiastic about social and environmental themes in the curriculum.

•    Received 100 percent of respondent agreement that its faculty are enthusiastic about about social and environmental themes in the curriculum.

Antioch University New England's Green MBA ranked first out of 63 MBA programs in two categories: faculty support of Net Impact themes in the curriculum, and faculty support of Net Impact themes in extracurricular events and activities. Antioch's Green MBA came in second for preparing Net Impact students for ethical and socially responsible leadership, third for student support of Net Impact themes in the curriculum, and fourth for both administrative support of Net Impact themes and for preparing all students for ethical and socially responsible leadership.

Business as Unusual: The 2008 Student Guide to Graduate Business Programs used a qualitative survey of Net Impact chapter leaders from sixty-three MBA programs to compile the data as well as the results from an online survey completed by another 1,552 student Net Impact members. Graduate students rated their individual MBA programs on five main categories including reasons to attend, administrative support, career services and alumni support, student activities, and curriculum. These categories were broken down into 14 subcategories. Net Impact is an international nonprofit organization of over 10,000 MBAs, graduate students, and executives.

The Department of Organization & Management and its Green MBA program launched a new chapter of Net Impact in November of 2007. Membership in the Antioch University New England chapter is open to all Organization & Management students.

ProStrakan Announces US Co-Promotion Agreement for Oncology Support Product, GELCLAIR

Galashiels, Scotland, (PRWEB) 20 April 2009: ProStrakan Group plc (http://www.prostrakan.com), the international specialty pharmaceutical company, today announces that it has signed an exclusive co-promotion agreement with EKR Therapeutics Inc. (EKR) in the United States for GELCLAIR, a bioadherent mouth gel indicated for the management and relief of pain associated with Oral Mucositis (OM).

GELCLAIR to be marketed alongside SANCUSO® (http://www.sancuso.com)

ProStrakan has strengthened its presence in oncology supportive care and will promote GELCLAIR alongside SANCUSO, a unique transdermal patch for the prevention of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) in patients receiving moderately and/or highly emetogenic chemotherapy regimens of up to five consecutive days duration. SANCUSO received approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in September 2008.

ProStrakan will offer GELCLAIR as a second detail to oncologists and oncology nurses across the US through its US sales force, which is already promoting SANCUSO.

Commenting on the addition of GELCLAIR to ProStrakan's US product range, ProStrakan's Chief Executive, Dr Wilson Totten, said, "GELCLAIR and SANCUSO are highly complementary. The addition of GELCLAIR to our US product range presents ProStrakan with an excellent opportunity to capitalize on the access that SANCUSO has created for our team to oncologists and oncology nurses across the US. We hope that in this way we can help to improve the quality of life for more chemotherapy patients."

In addition to SANCUSO and GELCLAIR, ProStrakan is planning to further improve the lives of oncology patients with a new sublingual formulation of fentanyl. Fentanyl is an opioid used to manage episodes of severe breakthrough pain experienced by cancer patients who are already receiving opioid analgesics for chronic pain. ProStrakan is planning to file a New Drug Application (NDA) with the US FDA for this fentanyl sublingual; this will further expand its supportive care commitment in oncology.

GELCLAIR Relieves Pain From Oral Mucositis (OM), A Chemotherapy And Radiotherapy Side Effect

Similar to nausea and vomiting, OM is experienced by many patients going through chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Every year in the US, 400,000+ patients suffer from OM(1) – inflammation and ulceration of the mucous membrane of the mouth that occurs after radiation to the head and neck and after chemotherapy(2). OM occurs in approximately 40% of patients receiving standard dose chemotherapy(3)(4) and this incidence increases to 80% in patients receiving high dose therapy(2).

The clinical manifestation of OM can include: severe pain; difficulty in eating, drinking, swallowing and speaking. These may, in turn, result in poor nutrition, weight loss, deterioration in quality of life and the delay, reduction or cessation of chemotherapy treatment(1)(3)(5)(6).

Gelclair is an FDA-approved medical device in the form of a dilutable gel, packaged in 15ml sachets. Patients mix the product with water then rinse the Gelclair solution around the mouth at least one hour before eating or drinking. Gelclair works by forming a barrier that protects the exposed nerve endings that cause pain. Study results have shown that Gelclair significantly reduces OM pain for five to seven hours after administration(7).

Mental Health Web Site Addresses Differences in Diagnosis of Adjustment Disorder and PTSD in Veterans Mental Health

(PRWEB) June 24, 2008 — On March 20th Dr. Norma Perez, mental health specialist and coordinator of her hospital’s Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) clinical team, sent a startling email to her staff.

“Given that we are having more and more compensation seeking veterans,” she wrote. “I’d like to suggest that you refrain from giving a diagnosis of PTSD straight out. Consider a diagnosis of Adjustment Disorder.”

Dr. Perez has since argued that her email was meant to better support veterans who sometimes struggle to get a correct diagnosis. Critics say that her email is a sign that the VA is cutting back on appropriate care for soldiers by using a lesser diagnosis that is not eligible for the same services as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (http://www.mentalhelp.net/poc/view_doc.php?type=doc&id=15324&cn=109).

An April 2008 private study found that at least 300,000 American military personnel are suffering from PTSD but according to Pentagon findings only 40,000 veterans have been officially diagnosed.

Mark Dombeck, PhD, Director of MentalHelp.net, says that PTSD (http://www.mentalhelp.net/poc/view_doc.php?type=doc&id=15324&cn=109) can be challenging to identify. He adds that this may be the reasoning behind Dr. Perez’s controversial email.

PTSD is a reaction to violent, dangerous trauma that causes intense stress and fear. The intensity of his or her experience causes the trauma to be written into the victim’s memory. Veterans suffering from PTSD (http://www.mentalhelp.net/poc/view_doc.php?type=doc&id=15324&cn=109) are unable to turn off obsessive thoughts about their experiences and so are forced to re-live their fear and horror over and over again.

People suffering with PTSD often present with the following symptoms:

? Dissociation

? Intrusive trauma memories at inconvenient times

? Intense clarify of recall

? Nightmares or hallucinations

? Substance abuse

? Reclusive behavior and avoidance

? Jumpiness, heightened startle response

? Hyperawareness

? Guilt over surviving trauma

Treatments for PTSD include medications and psychotherapy.

Accurately diagnosing PTSD (http://www.mentalhelp.net/poc/view_doc.php?type=doc&id=15324&cn=109) can be a time-consuming process and patients need support while they wait for their official diagnosis. Adjustment Disorder can be used as a temporary label for a veteran whose testing is not yet complete but who needs services.

“Adjustment Disorder is a stress disorder in its own right,” says Dr. Dombeck. “When it’s used to address the need for further testing then it’s an appropriate diagnosis. But if it’s used for political purposes – like to save the VA from having to pay out money to a disabled veteran – then that amounts to malpractice.”

Dr. Dombeck says he is sympathetic to the challenges of the Veteran’s Administration but adds that his first concern is for struggling veterans and their need for effective, ongoing mental health support.

“In our current war-time circumstances the serious issue is how quickly can veterans can get the care they need to address their healthcare concerns,” says Dr. Dombeck. “We’re happy to fund the actions that break our troops, but not to fund the actions that help to put them back together again.”

About OM Minneapolis:

The food: Contemporary Indian Cuisine (http://www.omminneapolis.com/_blog/Blog/post/Contemporary_Indian_Cuisine/)

With incredible interest in Indian culture and cuisine on the rise OM owners, Randy Norman and Vik Uppal, knew there was a demand in the Twin Cities market that wasn’t being met. They believe that restaurant patrons are far savvier in these global times, and a hunger for great Indian food is much stronger, especially contemporary Indian which is the first of its kind in this market. Vibrant flavors, exciting combination's, the sophistication of the presentation – they believe will make this concept stand apart from the rest.

“To me, contemporary Indian cuisine is NOT fusion. What I do here at OM is to showcase the flavored bounties of classical multi-regional Indian home cooking, never seen outside its provincial boundaries, in a modern and contemporary presentation. You won’t find cookie cutter restaurant fare that is heavily spiced at all times covered in the same three or four different sauces. All our spices are purchased whole and all our blends are my signature blends – if you give a whole spice to a good Indian cook, he/she should be able to extract eight distinct and different flavors from it. You take that concept and multiply that by the hundreds of spices, you have peeked into the world of regional Indian cuisine." Raghavan Iyer, Culineer, OM

OM has put together an amazing team that is committed to quality and in providing an experience that can’t be found anywhere else. From the décor, to the cuisine, to the service; every detail is centered on creating the best dining experience possible for their guests. Their commitment to long term sustainability includes buying locally grown products when possible and using only the highest quality ingredients. They have the right people who have the integrity and commitment to see that mission through.

“Although my most recent experience was with steakhouses I am first and foremost a restaurant operator. I have been in the restaurant business for over 30 years and have experienced success in many restaurant concepts; it’s not limited to steak. I know food, and I know people. Interest in Indian cuisine and culture are at an all time high. My business partner, Vik Uppal, and I want to make this rich and diverse culture accessible and approachable to everyone.” Randy Norman, co-owner, OM.

Desktop Alert Extends Common Alerting Protocol to Instant Messaging Applications Worldwide With Jabcast XMPP

Washington, DC (PRWEB) October 5, 2009 — Desktop Alert Inc. (http://desktopalert.net/) today announced the release of Jabcast XMPP (http://desktopalert.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=74). Public and private sectors can now integrate with the Common Alerting Protocol for facilitating emergency messages to an indispensable amount of end-points such as Instant Messengers, Blackberries, cell phones, alert beacons and other communication devices with near real-time speed.

Desktop Alert is a worldwide leader in Command and Control Mass Notification Systems and a Sponsor-Level Member with OASIS Emergency Interoperability (http://www.oasis-open.org/about/). Members accelerate the development, adoption, application, and implementation of emergency interoperability and communications standards and related work. Recently, Desktop Alert demonstrated XMPP Interoperability with CAP and EDXL Standards at OASIS Baltimore Emergency Interoperability Training Event in Baltimore.

"It's great… I've been waiting years for XMPP-based CAP solutions to come to the market. I think the marriage of CAP and XMPP could have a dramatic impact on the use of the alerting protocol by first responders, government agencies and the public," said Art Botterell, Original CAP Architect from Incident.com.

Jabcast XMPP is built on the Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP) (formerly named Jabber (http://www.jabber.org/)). XMPP is an open, XML-based protocol originally aimed at near-real-time, extensible instant messaging (IM) and presence information (e.g., buddy lists, recall lists), but now expanded into the broader realm of message oriented middleware (http://desktopalert.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=95). Desktop Alert recently demonstrated Jabcast XMPP's "opt-in" interoperability with CAP and EDXL Standards, at the OASIS Baltimore Emergency Interoperability Training Event in Baltimore.

XMPP is currently the only approved instant messaging protocol within the Department of Defense. Desktop Alert has been a leader in XMPP technologies dating back to 1999 when the company's founders introduced Jabcast, the first XMPP Server to run on both Windows Operating Systems and OpenVMS (previously known as VAX-11 VMS or informally VMS).

The Jabcast XMPP CAP Server allows for CAP Message Publication to Google™ Talk, AIM® for AOL® users, Microsoft Windows Live™ Messenger and Yahoo!® Messenger, ICQ, IRQ and numerous other instant messaging products and platforms. Instant Messaging users can simply subscribe to a CAP feed and instantly be configured to receive CAP messages worldwide.

"To the best of our knowledge, Jabcast XMPP represents a first to market solution for CAP integration with XMPP. Jabcast XMPP facilitates emergency and disaster response to millions of end-users through a simple opt-in subscription process invoked by end-users. Near real-time CAP message consumption and publication makes a big difference when seconds count," added Howard Ryan, Founder and CEO of Desktop Alert Inc.

Desktop Alert along with its security integration partner Protexx (http://www.protexx.com) also demonstrated additional options for secure transmission of CAP messages using The Protexx Data Guard Dog, a program based upon Trusted Identity Credentialing combined with multi-factor authentication and high level protection of data-in-motion utilizing asymmetric PKI based delivery of the requisite elements. This greatly contributes to the establishment of a secure Agency perimeter and at the same time provides a critical auditable trail. This process would virtually eliminate compromise resulting from unauthorized physical or logical access, sniffing and/or electronic interception.

About Desktop Alert, Inc.™

Worldwide U.S. Military organizations such as The United States National Guard, The United States Air Force Academy, The United States Military Academy at West Point, Multi-National Forces in IRAQ, The U.S. Air Force, and The U.S. Army now utilize the DTA mass notification platform daily for their organizations emergency communication requirements. Desktop Alert can contact thousands of computer users at their desktop and require them to click to confirm receipt of the message flashed on their screen. Those not verified can then be listed on a report and/or sent as a "Target Package" to be automatically contacted by other means such as email, SMS, phone calls and other devices.

Website Security Shootout With Security Expert

Fishkill, NY (Vocus) July 6, 2009 — Just like the old western movies, when a new gun comes into town, everyone is eager to find out how fast and deadly the newcomer really is. This would usually lead to a gunfight. Like any gunfight, there can only be one winner. That scenario was recently reenacted in the digital town they call the Internet. When SecureLive, a website security (http://www.securelive.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=205&Itemid=54) company boasted about being the fastest and deadliest, a website security expert and author just had to find out for himself by putting oh his gun belt.

SecureLive LLC, a New York based website security company recently launched a suite of website security products aimed at securing all the loopholes and doorways on a website. The system consists of software that deploys artificial intelligence and "Live" monitors to thwart hackers and thieves. SecureLive claims to protect and secure all the moving parts of a web application with a strong website security (http://www.securelive.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=205&Itemid=54) and anti-hijacking prevention system.

Now, you can't just walk into town making such big claims and get away with it. So, website security expert Tom Canavan, author of "Joomla Web Security" (published by Packt Publishing in 2008), decided to put SecureLive through his usual grueling test. Joomla is one of many open source website platforms used by millions across the world. Mr. Canavan's expertise goes far beyond Joomla security (http://www.securelive.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=187&Itemid=235) and into all aspects of website security. Mr. Canavan was eager to prove that this new website security for Joomla (http://www.securelive.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=187&Itemid=235) was just like all the rest and would soon fall from his smoking gun.

After Mr. Canavan's attacks and gunfire, SecureLive remained unmoved and proved to be quite capable of taking the bullets. Without any signs of weakening or cracking, SecureLive withstood the best hacking Mr. Canavan could hurl. In fact SecureLive successfully blocked Mr. Canavan's assaults, and consequently banned him altogether. The results not only stunned him, but prompted him to remark: "Wow – I was effectively dead in the water unless I wished to move to another location with a different IP. SecureLive stopped me and blocked me from even seeing the website. Wow!!"

The following are excerpts from Tom Canavan's review of SecureLive:

"We used a basic IP scanner to confirm the presence of our target, then moved to a more advanced scanner to gain a deeper understanding of it. Out of this part, we did not set off any alarms and found some very interesting ports opened, that we would attempt to exploit as part of the test."

"Gaining that traction we then moved up to a direct SQL attack on the machine — hitting a component that did not exist on the site. I wanted to test the 'alertness' of the software. It did not trigger anything -but that is what I would have expected – it in essence ignored my feeble attempt on attacking a non-existent component."

"I hopped over to my CentOs Linux box, and attempted a few "cheap" hacker tricks – which of course failed, and did not set-off any alarms. That settled it – I pulled out a commercially available Cross Site Script and SQL Injection testing tool to find any weaknesses in the site."

"Test started — and kept, going, and going…oops.. I was caught!"

"SecureLive detected my attempt to run a SQL Injection and a XSS against the site. All of the sudden my other (windows) box could no longer reach the site – 404 Page not found…hmm…Jumping over to the Linux server on a different network – no problem. SecureLive stopped me."

"SecureLive is a Premium product that offers more value than you are paying for. With the rise in Cyber Crime, and the sophistication of the attacks and the tools, any serious site owner, who depends on their website for revenue should not be without this product guarding their site. It's simple to install and is monitored as part of the SecureLive service. Should an attacker reach a certain threat level, the "host" of the IP is notified allowing them to take action at their end of the wire, to shut down the bad guys."

"What I really liked was the under the covers look at the technology. They have developed a very robust and powerful system that has the flexibility to change and grow as the threats to your site will inevitably change and become even more powerful."

"Head to www.securelive.net and buy it today and start being part of the solution to e-crime rather than a victim."

SecureLive blocks attack attempts first and then alerts you and a live monitor in real-time. During blocking and alerting, the system also records vital data about the attacker including attack strings used, geo-tracking and other unique signatures. This evidence is recorded in the global system and passed onto LIVE monitors, who will follow up the incident by filing a report and forwarding the evidence to the appropriate agencies seeking action against the attackers. The system is artificial intelligence enabled and adjusts your security settings (per client) automatically to become "SMARTER". It is an intelligent learning device.

SecureLive website security incorporates Software Bots, Artificial Intelligence Technology, Complete Covert Data Acquisition, Existing Global Hacking Knowledge-base, Live Human Intervention, SMART Real-Time Diagnostics and Automation to pack three separate systems into one for a complete ROUNDED solution to today's security threats; BLOCKING, ALERTING AND REPORTING.

This is what ALL other security systems should be doing and is a much needed product in today's cyber environment.
